Bridges Life Skills Academy
CFESC Bridges Life Skills Academy (LSA) is a lifeline for high school students who are unable to function in the traditional school setting as a result of heightened behavioral issues. Through this program, LSA helps at-risk children graduate from high school while equipping them with critical survival skills, such as financial literacy and job readiness preparation. CFESC recently partnered with the Orange Public School District to offer Life Skills Academy (previously known as Bridges). LSA serves high school students whom CFESC and The Orange Public School District believe can benefit from program participation as an alternative to suspension, expulsion, and out of district placement. The students attend school fulltime throughout the academic year in CFESC’s facilities and participate in academic activities, survival skills workshops, and counseling. The goal of the program is to reintegrate students to traditional school settings and/or facilitate graduation or help students find alternate paths whether through GED training, professional schools or moving on to higher education. The unique capability of the Life Skills Academy is the combination of an alternative school setting that includes a regular academic curriculum but just as importantly addresses the behaviors that caused the student to be taken out of the traditional high school setting through Survival Skills Workshops.
The goal of Bridges Life Skills Academy is to decrease high school dropout rates, increase graduation rates and increase educational attainment in Orange Township and surrounding communities.
