CFESC Camp Something To Do

CFESC Camp Something To Do is designed to enrich the lives of children between the ages 4 through 14 while providing inexpensive child care for families in the community for a minimum of 30 and a maximum of 40 children. CFESC Camp Something To Do allows parents to pay weekly to maximize flexibility. By providing activities that are safe, fun, explorative, and adventurous, the Camp encourages the children to experience new things, and gain increased skills and confidence. CFESC Camp Something To Do activities include swimming, field trips, arts and crafts, and supplementary academic instruction.

CFESC Camp Something To Do is an 8 week summer program that includes early and late drop/pick to aid in parents' scheduling needs. Early drop off is 7:45am and late pick up is 5:30pm. The summer camp is divided into 3 groups: Pre-Kindergarten to 8th grade, 3rd to 5th grade, and 6th to 8th grade. During the 8 weeks of camp, each week is devoted to a different theme with components focusing on Math and Language Arts review, Arts and Crafts, Science workshops, Physical activities, and Field Trips. The 2010 Summer Camp had the following 8 themes: Safari, Western, "Go Green" (environmental safety, recycling and earth protection), Music and Dance, Kids in the Kitchen, Olympic Week, International Week and Beach.
 

 

• Week 1: Beach – included learning about marine life and started weekly trips to the pool

• Week 2: Safari – included learning about different types of animals culminated with a trip to the zoo

• Week 3: Western – using your imagination to go back in time to Western time and dressed up and put on a play

• Week 4: "Go Green" – included a trip to the Environmental Center of Roseland, creating "Green" arts and crafts like nature picture frames

• Week 5: Music and Dance – included an opportunity for each child to display their own talents in singing, music, and dance. Also, learned about different types of music and dances

• Week 6: Kids in the Kitchen – included kids learning kitchen safety and how to make their own pizza/tacos from scratch

• Week 7: Life in Motion & Olympic Week – organized a Summer Camp version of the Olympics with different types of games and learned and practiced yoga

• Week 8: International Week – celebrated each child's history and each child brought in something that depicts their nationality, including food, games, flags, and more

 

CFESC Camp Something To Do is a non-denominational camp that provides services to families in the community at reduced costs while supplying children with access to a program that mixes academic enrichment classes (math, language arts, writing, and science), sports, arts and crafts, field trips and more in a safe, fun environment.
